The shortlist of nominees to the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) is out, bringing Chicago a step closer to fully implementing the Empowering Communities for Public Safety ordinance.

Hello! I’ll be covering this evening’s District Council Nominating Committee Meeting, hosted by the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA), taking place at UCAN Chicago at 3605 W Fillmore St., at 5pm.

The purpose of this meeting is to vote to nominate at least fourteen candidates for the first-ever permanent Commission.

17 votes have been counted to the candidates chosen for the Commission.

Now, there are individuals who are providing brief background information on each of the candidates.

The Committee will then send the list of nominees to the mayor for consideration for appointment.
Per the CCPSA ordinance, the mayor will have 30 days to select seven nominees from the list provided by the Nominating Committee.

The names of candidates are Jose Abonce, Anthony Driver, Bernardo Gomez, Aaron Gottlieb, Nakiyah Matthews, Art Mitchell, Abierre Minor, Angel Rubi Navarijo, Kelly Pressley, Deondre Rutues, Nyshana Sumner, Remel Terry, Sandra Wortham, La’Mont Williams & Hon. Edward Washington II.
